    Mark Riddles is a well-known choral musician and accomplished conductor who has developed major music programs within the context of sacred music. Choral organizations under his direction are recognized by beauty of tonal production, transparent texture, excellent intonation and lyrical sense of line.
    Riddles enjoys a wide range of music and is able to perform music in an impressive variety of styles.

    The range of his sacred choral repertoire is reflected on three recordings: Again I Say, Rejoice! Psalms and Canticles of Praise, and A Child Is Born.

    Riddles’ experience includes congregations in Washington, DC, Indianapolis, New York City and Michigan. In each, he developed successful programs of regional adult choirs, youth ensembles, graded choir programs, handbells, orff and professional instrumental ensembles.

    His great interest in congregational singing has inspired engagement and education of the congregation as a vibrant choir in its own right.

    He produced and served as musical director for Celebration of Hope – an inter denominational worship and music event in Indianapolis in which hundreds of congregations worshiped in the cause of racial reconciliation.

    Riddles has produced symposia featuring nationally known presenters such as Dr. Mark Bangert (former President of American Bach Society) discussing Bach and the Music of Life and Death and author Dr. David Stowe – (Professor of American Cultures) – discussing the importance of Congregational Singing in the Formation of American Culture.

    He has been affiliated with several professional organizations such as American Choral Directors Association in which he served both as state and divisional repertoire and standards chair in the area of Music and Worship. He has conducted programs and presented lectures for chapters of the American Guild of Organists and Choral Conductor’s Guild. He has published articles in official magazines of these organizations as well as other church music related publications.

    Riddles served as lecturer, teacher and symposium panelist for Christian Theological Seminary. Subjects included, fine arts, liturgy, music of the congregation, scriptural understandings of music. Classes taught included Music and Worship.

    Riddles studied choral conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt and Robert Harris. Orchestral conducting teachers included Fred Ockwell and Frederick Fennell.
