School groups, churches, and community organizations that are recognized as a tax-exempt organization 501c3 may receive tax exemption from the State of New York. By dealing directly with the hotel, these groups are exempt from paying the New York State sales tax (8.5%) and the New York City hotel occupancy tax (13.25%) on their lodging.
