"Friends,
I was completely blown away by the success of Lux Aurumque/Virtual Choir this year and would love you to join me in our new venture, Sleep. We’re taking it to a new level technically in both audio and video, and I’m sure that you will be fascinated when we reveal the final videos in early spring. I will be in Cambridge (UK) over November 20-22 where choral scholars from Cambridge University and local choirs will be recording (and partying) a la Virtual Choir, and I will be online over the weekend to help with any queries you may have. Wouldn’t it be great if we could sing from all parts of the world to create a beautiful new Virtual Choir which I’ll work on when I’m back in the US at the end of December? A big THANK YOU.
Woo Hoo,
Eric"
Here’s your chance to be a part of history! A Global Sing with Eric needs your voice -- become a part of Virtual Choir 2011 (“VC2011”). With this personal world-wide request, singers from all over the world are encouraged to upload their vocal part for VC2011 and help Eric and the choir win a Guinness World Record. November 22 is St. Cecilia Day, the Patron Saint of Music – and in that spirit, singers worldwide will be uploading their clips between November 20-22. This is a free opportunity to Sing with Eric.
Do you want an autographed and FREE copy of Eric’s newest CD release Light & Gold?
For choir directors or singers who wish to coordinate a “VC2011 Party” and are responsible for 20 or more uploads, they will receive a FREE autographed CD courtesy of Eric himself. ALL choirs that upload one or more videos will be credited in the final video! In order to receive a free autographed Light & Gold CD, all videos must be uploaded by midnight November 22.
To take part, register your choir or groups of 20 individuals or more. The VC2011 team will email you a unique Choir Tag that will allow your choir members' YouTube videos to be linked to your choir, and they'll also send you periodic VC2011 project updates. This is the only way to qualify for your FREE and autographed CD from Eric Whitacre.
Otherwise, join Eric as an individual.
Here are some further ideas of how to make this Virtual Choir Party fun and productive for your choir:
- A suggested fundraising opportunity: Each choir member will seek multiple sponsors who will contribute a specific amount (either $1 or $0.50 per singer) for each choir member who uploads and becomes a part of VC2011. Examples: Choir of 40, each singer finds 4 sponsors who will pay $1 for each choir member who uploads their voice part, and 30 members upload, that equals 4 x $30 =$120 in total from 1 individual to benefit your program or organization)
- Make Sleep a chorus assignment asking all of your singers to learn their individual parts, rehearse as a choir and then upload their vocal part and become a member of VC2011.
- Schedule a VC2011 viewing party when the new video is released (Date TBA, check DCINY website for updates). As a choir, you will have credit in the final video. Make that viewing party in to a fundraiser as well for your program!
