DCINY Final Performance Event
Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) presents its final performance of the season at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at 2:00 pm.
More on Bernstein's Chichester Psalms

Maestro Hank Dahlman leads Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. The piece received its World Premiere in the same hall as this afternoon's concert on July 15, 1965, conducted by Bernstein himself. It was originally commissioned for the 1965 Southern Cathedrals' Festival at Chichester Cathedral in Sussex, England by the cathedral's organist, John Birch, and the Dean, Walter Hussey, and received its premiere there a few weeks later on July 31, 1965. The work itself is affirmative and at times serene, with each of the three movements featuring complete psalm, along with a verse more of a second, sung in Hebrew. It is a compelling blend of Bernstein's Broadway style with these lyrical, intimate settings.
More on the Music for Treble Choirs Maestro Janet Galván and Maestro Darren Dailey will share the stage to present various works for treble choir. Written by both musical masters and living composers, the pieces showcase the nuance and flexibility of the treble choir. Works include those by Gustav Holst, Cesar Franck, David Brunner, Francisco Nuńez and Rollo Dilworth, to name a few. Both conductors have chosen works from varying time periods and in various styles.
