The Music of Handel and Rutter Featured in DCINY Performance at New York City’s Avery Fisher Hall, March 29, 2009

Choristers from Pinewood High School (CA), under the direction of Kristina Overcashier and Spencer Williams, Mt. Eden High School (CA), directed by Ken Rawdon, Santa Clara University (CA), directed by Thomas Colohan, and The Choral Project (CA), directed by Daniel Hughes, will perform at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, March 29, at 8:30 PM. They will be performing the music of John Rutter (two pieces for organ and choir: For the Beauty of the Earth and What Sweeter Music, as well as his majestic Gloria), under the baton of Guest Conductor Daniel Hughes.

This exciting evening will also feature music by George Frideric Handel, his Te Deum in D major ("Dettingen"), HWV. 283, with soloist Debra Scroggins, mezzo-soprano, and led by Guest Conductor Dwight Uphaus. This part of the program will feature representatives from Reynolds High School (OR), directed by Karen Bohart, and Wilsonville High School (OR), directed by Sue Schreiner.
