US Premiere of Karl Jenkins New Choral Work "Peacemakers"

Karl Jenkins' new choral/orchestra work Peacemakers will receive its US Premiere with DCINY at Carnegie Hall on January 16, 2012. Sir Jenkins will be composer-in-residence for the event. The work, which incorporates texts by Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mandela the Dalai Lama, and Albert Schweizter as well as Shelley, the Bible, the Quran, and Hinduism, extols peace. One line, from 13th-century Persian mystic poet Rumi, sums up the ethos of the piece: "All religions, all singing one song; Peace be with you."

Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir 2.0

On Tuesday, March 1st, Eric Whitacre presented his new Virtual Choir 2.0 to a group of web entrepreneurs and media stars at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California. Eric's presentation received the first complete standing ovation at the conference.

When Eric put out a call for submissions for this project late last year, he hoped to get 900 submissions to beat a recent MTV choir project. Instead he received 2,051 submissions from 58 countries!

The official launch of Virtual Choir 2.0 will be on April 7th, 2011. On that day, Eric will be giving a live talk and press launch in NYC at the Paley Center for Media.
