Karl Jenkins receives the CBE from Her Majesty the Queen of England

Karl Jenkins Awarded CBE from Queen of England
Congratulations to DCINY Composer-in-Residence Karl Jenkins for being awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) by Her Majesty the Queen of England for his continued outstanding compositions. The Investiture ceremony took place on November 16, 2010, at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, United Kingdom. Receiving this prestigious title proved to be particularly timely since this year marks the ten year anniversary of the premiere of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, unarguably one of Jenkins' most notable and recognized works.
For more information about the ceremony, award, and for pictures of Karl with the Queen, visit the official Karl Jenkins website or the Distinguished Concerts International Facebook page.

Sno-King Community Chorale Prepares for Opening Concert
by Jonathan Griffith, DCINY Co-founder and Artistic Director
I had the honor of rehearsing with the Sno-King Community Chorale on Tuesday, January 4 in preparation for their appearance on the January 17, 2011 "Concert for Peace" performance. This is a fantastic chorus of committed adult singers who are dedicated to high quality music. Frank DeMiero, their director, has instilled an aura of serious music making along with fun, laughter and a sincere joy of making music together. I enjoyed myself immensely.

Dr. Timothy Seelig Named Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus
DCINY is happy to announce that our friend and colleague Dr. Tim Seelig has recently been named Artistic Director and Conductor of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus! We are sure that Dr. Seelig will bring to the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus the same amazing musicianship and spirit that he did to Resounding Harmony, as well as to the Turtle Creek Chorale, where he served as conductor for nearly twenty years. View Dr. Seelig's video about his homecoming to San Francisco.
We are also very excited to have Tim back with us on the DCINY Concert Series on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center with Joseph Martin's "Wisdom of Old Turtle," as well as on February 20, 2012, at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Hall at Carnegie Hall with James Eakin's Flowers Over the Graves of War.
Participate in one of Dr. Tim Seelig's performances with DCINY in New York City
