New York's Town Hall

NEW BRITAIN - April 22, 2008 -
Central Connecticut State University's Jazz Ensemble and California's Vanguard
University Jazz Ensemble will perform at New York's Town Hall on Wednesday,
April 23 at 8 p.m., under the direction of CCSU's Carl W. Knox and Vanguard's
Kenneth R. Foerch.
The two ensembles will be performing with jazz headliners Jon Faddis, Ralph
Lalama and the New York Improv Collective. The new series, "Jazz at Town Hall"
is being presented by Distinguished Concerts International New York and will
open with "Monk in the 21st Century: The Next Generation." CCSU's
Jazz Ensemble will then play "Straight, No Chaser", "Trinkle Tinkle," and
"Evidence."
The California group will perform "Off Minor," "Round Midnight," "Little Rootie
Tootie," and "Rhythm-A-Ning." The two groups will be led by Faddis, also
performing on the trumpet. Lalama will play tenor saxophone with the
ensembles.
Distinguished Concerts International New York was founded in early 2007 by Iris
Derke who serves as general director; and Jonathan Griffith, artistic director
and principal conductor. DCINY provides opportunities for choral, instrumental,
jazz and chamber ensembles as well as conductors and soloists. Its
mission is to enhance the concert experience with educational programs and
incentives.
Town Hall is located at 123 West 43rd Street between 6th
