Dear DCINY Colleague,
Both
Jonathan and I, as well as everyone that makes up the DCINY "Team",
wishes to share personally the good news of the 2009 season and the
triumphs of DCINY as it heads into its 3rd season in 2010. Our thanks
goes out to everyone who has contributed to the success of DCINY,
including you. Our gratitude extends to each and every director and
performer who has participated on the stage along with guest
conductors, soloists, the DCINY Orchestra, our NYC staff, International
Advisory Board, Program Advisors, as well as our enthusiastic audience.
Our
webpage includes compact jewels of each concert date, giving you an
insight as to what occurred that day at the venue -- from photos, to
programs, and words from performers and audience. If you haven't had a
chance to look, we encourage you to do so and read about our many
successes this year including:
- Eric Whitacre's success at Disney Hall in Los
Angeles with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain
- Doreen Rao's championing of the work of John Burge at Avery
Fisher Hall in New York
- The 70th Anniversary of Shawnee Press
celebrated with Tim Seelig, Joseph Martin, Mark Hayes and Greg Gilpin
at Carnegie Hall
It's been quite a season and these are but a few of the highlights! Please take a look at our concert archive.
We
are especially proud of the wonderful words shared by those who have
enjoyed the "DCINY Experience" and have selected a few to share with
you in this letter.
Additionally,
we’re thrilled to tell you that we’ve been nominated and are
participating in the American Express/NBC Universal “Shine A Light”
spotlight. We are in need of as many supporting nominations as possible
by this Sunday, September 13, to be considered for a major grant and
marketing support for our future series. Please help in supporting
DCINY and our mission by clicking through, registering, and endorsing our story (and please tell your friends).
Everyone at DCINY wishes you a great start to the academic year and looks forward to the next opportunity for our paths to meet.
Warm wishes,
| Iris Derke, Co-founder and General Director |
Jonathan Griffith, Co-founder and Artistic Director |
