Iván Rodríguez is a tenor born in Concepción, Chile in 1969. In 1991 he began his vocal studies with Carlos Bustamante Bonelli. He participates in musical groups such as the Sine Nomine Choir, the first season Choir and the early music ensemble "Percecq." In 2000 he moved to Santiago and continues his studies with Hanns Stein and Patrick Mendez. As a soloist he has participated in the seasons of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, Teatro de la Universidad de Chile, Teatro Oriente, Teatro de la Universidad de Concepción and the Musical Weeks of Frutillar, working under the guidance of teachers like David del Pino, René Gulickers, Max Valdes, David Ayma, Victor Alarcon, Francisco Rettig, Hans-Joachim Rotzsch, Yoichi Sugiyama, Ruben Jais, Carlos Vieu, Nicolas Rauss and Jose Luis Dominguez. Among the works he has performed are: the Requiem Mass in C minor, the role of Tamino in The Magic Flute, Don Octavio in Don Giovanni, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Belmonte in The Abduction from the Seraglio, and Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, the Magnificat, Cantatas BWV 196 and the 131, the Christmas Oratorio (Evangelist and arias) and St. John Passion (arias) by Bach, the wording of Elijah by Mendelssohn, Gaston in La Traviata by Verdi, Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Don Gaspar de La Favorita of Donizetti, Pong in Puccini's Turandot, the tenor soloist in Haydn's Creation and Handel's Messiah. In 2009 he made his debut in Montevideo singing Haydn's Creation to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Choir SODRE. In 2010 he performed Castilian Songs for voice and orchestra, by J. Orrego Salas, together with the Chamber Orchestra of Chile under the direction of Juan Pablo Izquierdo, The Magic Flute with the Chamber Orchestra of Valdivia and conducted performances at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago and the Universidad de Chile. He has also completed several chamber concerts performing works by Schubert, Schumann, Dvorak, Jindrik and Garcia. |
