Four Grammy® Award Nominations for Charles BruffyDecember 3, 2008
The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) announced that Charles Bruffy, with his two professional choruses the Kansas City Chorale and Phoenix Chorale, has been nominated for a total of four Grammy awards - two nominations for their joint recording of Rheinberger: Sacred Choral Works, and two nominations for the Phoenix Chorale's solo recording Spotless Rose: Hymns to the Virgin Mary. Both albums were released on the Chandos Records label. Nominations for albums "Rheinberger: Sacred Choral Works" and "Spotless Rose" include:
Best Classical Album "To be recognized by the Academy for the incredible artistry of these singers is truly humbling and rewarding. I am so honored and thrilled that we once again share the company of the world's leading artists in each category," said Charles Bruffy, conductor of both choruses. Rheinberger: Sacred Choral Works has been nominated for Best Choral Performance and Best Surround Sound Album. Spotless Rose: Hymns to the Virgin Mary has been nominated for Best Classical Album and Best Small Ensemble. In 2008, Bruffy's recording Grechaninov: Passion Week, was nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Album, Best Choral Performance, Best Surround Sound Album, and won a Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Classical. |
