Distinguished Concerts Orchestra International, under the baton of Maestro Jonathan Griffith, will perform Mozart's Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra, K 299 with special soloists DCINY co-founder and general director Iris Derke '92 and Kirsten Agresta, on Memorial Day, May 25, at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. The concert will open with Mozart's beautiful Serenade, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (K 525).
A versatile artist, flautist Derke's performances have taken her throughout the world, from across the US to Europe and the Middle East. Derke has appeared as concerto soloist at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, as well as with the Polish National Symphony and the International Forum of New Music in Mexico City. Her special interests as co-founder of Distinguished Concerts International New York have continually focused her talents on the performance of works by new and modern composers.
In just two short years, DCINY has joined the ranks of major classical music production companies in America, nearly doubling its roster of participating ensembles and attracting high quality talent domestically and internationally. In less than two short concert seasons, DCINY has presented 21 concerts ranging from solo and chamber music recitals in Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall, at Carnegie Hall, to North American and World Premieres by internationally recognized composers Karl Jenkins and Eric Whitacrein Isaac Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. DCINY has produced concerts in many of New York's famous venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Town Hall, as well as other NYC concert halls.
