30th Anniversary of the Jonathan Griffith Singers – 20th Anniversary of Touring
Performance Tour of Barcelona
Choirs and Individual Singers welcome from around the world!
To all Jonathan Griffith Singers and any potential singers,
I wish to invite all of you to join me in Barcelona, Spain, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Jonathan Griffith Singers and the 20th Anniversary of the first Jonathan Griffith Singers tour. Our first tour was in 1997 and began in the beautiful city of San Remo, Italy, with performances of Missa Gaia in Italy and France. For any of you who might remember that trip, we had an absolutely fabulous time, and thus began the Jonathan Griffith Singers tours, which has now taken us to Spain, France, Czech Republic, China, Argentina and Uruguay, Turkey and now back to Barcelona 20 years later.
We will perform the Verdi Requiem in the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Spain, with at least one additional performance in a venue and city nearby. We will travel from July 17-27, 2017. These dates coincide with the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM) conference, which is held once every three years. The last time we performed in Barcelona, (2001), we performed the Verdi Requiem to two sold out performances, one in the Palau de la Musica and the other in the Theater de Fortuna, approximately one hour outside of Barcelona. We had over 110 singers and had to turn singers away due to limited capacity. I know this will be a memorable tour and strongly encourage you to sign up now. Because of the importance of this trip, it will be necessary to keep the chorus fully balanced, and therefore, sopranos and altos who are also able to bring a quality tenor or bass will be given priority. Therefore ladies, reach out now and get that man ready to sign up with you.
I look forward to making beautiful music with you…and eating a few fabulous meals in Spain’s tapas cafes and drinking some fine Spanish Cava.
