About Dan Forrest
Dan Forrest's works have won numerous contests and awards, including the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer's Award, the ACDA Raymond Brock Competition, the Donald Sutherland Endowment Composition Contest, the ALCM Raabe Prize, the John Ness Beck Foundation Awards, and the ASCAP Standard awards. Dan has published music in various genres and styles with numerous publishers. He has his own choral series with Hinshaw Music, The Music of Dan Forrest. Both his church and concert works have received several favorable reviews in the ACDA Choral Journal.
Dan's recent commissions include pieces for the 2011 ACDA National Convention Children's Honors Choir, the Greenville (SC) Chorale and Symphony, the Columbus (IN) Philharmonic, the Williamsburg (VA) Choral Guild, the University of Utah (for the 2011 World Choral Symposium in Argentina), the North Carolina MEA (for their 2012 convention) and the Cy Woods High School Choir (for the 2011 Texas MEA convention). Dan's music has been heard on NPR's Performance Today and has been performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center by Vanguard University's Concert Choir, and the Kennedy Center. The Arkansas Master'Singers (AR)
The Arkansas Master'Singers are ministers of music/worship leaders, directors, accompanists, choir leaders, pastors, staff members and staff spouses from Baptist churches in every corner of the state and all places in between. The Master'Singers is affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. These men and women participate voluntarily and at their own expense. Musicians from local churches are invited to sing with the Master'Singers with the endorsement of their minister of music/worship leader. Annual venues include State Convention meetings and Festivals of Song in local churches as well as other venues, including prison ministries.
Larry Grayson serves as Music and Worship Consultant for the Leadership and Worship Team of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. Larry received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree at Ouachita Baptist University. He attended Southwestern Seminary and completed a Master's Degree at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He has served churches in Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina and Texas and also taught music in Camden, Arkansas. He has served as music and worship minister, but still places high priority on students in music ministry. Larry's passion is worship. As part of his position at Arkansas State Baptist Convention, he is the director of the Arkansas Master'Singers.

Bob Jones University Choir (SC)
The Bob Jones University Choir is a diverse group of graduate and undergraduate college vocalists. Under the direction of Dr. Warren Cook, the choir performs a wide variety of classical and sacred music from all compositional periods and in various settings, including the concert hall, the opera stage, and the church. The Bob Jones University Choir exists to share beauty through music and to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ.
A member of the Bob Jones University music faculty since 1984, Dr. Warren Cook has studied at BJU and Westminster Choir College and earned the DMA in choral conducting at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Cook is the Director of Choral Activities at BJU and conducts the Chorale and the Chamber Singers, the University's two premiere choral organizations. Additionally, Cook teaches undergraduate and graduate music courses, trains opera and oratorio choruses, conducts choral-orchestral performances, and is director of Greenville SC's newest community choral ensemble, Rivertree Singers. Dr. Cook is a member of the American Choral Director's Association and the International Federation for Choral Music.

Cavanal Chorale (OK)
Cavanal Chorale was established in 2008, the result of the desire of Brian Holloway (our young manager) to participate in an ensemble that would sing serious, rather difficult choral music. The membership usually numbers 25-35 auditioned singers. To date, Cavanal Chorale has presented eight concert series, each with a particular theme, e.g., "Chestnuts roasting...", "As American As Apple Pie", "Songs of Faith", and "A Song for All Seasons." There are plans to present "Amahl and the Night Visitors" in 2012. Cavanal Chorale is accompanied by piano and guest instrumentalists. Concert venues are the local college and local churches.
Noma Curtis been the director of Cavanal Chorale since its inception in 2008. She received a Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Oklahoma (1961), emphasis in piano, and a Master of Music Education from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas (1965), emphasis in voice. She taught vocal music for 32 years in Conway Springs, Kansas (experience in elementary, middle school, and high school vocal music). She directed the community chorus in Conway Springs, Kansas for several years, and served as Minister of Music for Parkview Baptist Church, in Wichita, Kansas for 17 years.

Central Baptist Church Of Bearden Sanctuary Choir (TN)
The Central Baptist Church of Bearden Sanctuary Choir, from Knoxville, Tennessee is comprised of approximately 100 singers, and is the flagship of the Music and Worship Ministry of the church. In addition to two morning worship services each week, the Sanctuary Choir prepares and presents major programs at Christmas, Easter, and other special times throughout the year, including hosting an Annual Composers Weekend. The Sanctuary Choir's repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, including presentations of Handel's Messiah and Mendelssohn's Elijah to Worley and Rhodes' Somebody's Praying Me Through. This is the Sanctuary Choir's second appearance at Lincoln Center.
David A. Smith served as Interim Minister of Music and Worship at Central Baptist Church of Bearden in Knoxville, Tennessee from June 2010 until January 2012 following the retirement of Dr. Wendell Boertje. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Carson-Newman College, where he studied conducting under Dr. Eric Thorson, and also attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Smith has served churches in Kentucky and Tennessee.
In addition, Mr. Smith sings with the Tennessee Baptist Chorale, and is a soloist with the Knoxville Choral Society. He and his wife, Cindy, have two grown children.

The Cumcwhats (MD)
The CUMCwhats (pronounced "kumquats", like the fruit) are a vocal sextet from the Catonsville United Methodist Church Choir (the CUMC in our name) in Catonsville, Maryland. We have traveled throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania, performing in venues ranging from churches to Major League and Minor League baseball stadiums to assisted living quarters and nursing homes to private parties. We perform a variety of music: sacred and secular, accompanied and a capella, but always strive to bring glory to God with our talents.
Jan Strevig, Director of the vocal sextet The CUMCwhats, is an active musician in the Baltimore metropolitan area. She performs regularly as the alto soloist in the Catonsville United Methodist Church Choir. She plays flute, clarinet and alto sax in the Sentimental Journey Dance Band and freelances as a pit musician for area theatre groups. She is also a composer and arranger of vocal and instrumental works. Her real job is teaching instrumental music for Baltimore County Public Schools - 32 years and counting.

First Baptist Church Celebration Choir, Bastrop (TX)
The First Baptist Church Celebration Choir of Bastrop, Texas appeals to a broad audience because of the eclectic mix of gospel music styles it is known to perform. The choir is best known for singing southern gospel, traditional, and contemporary gospel works. Since 1990, under the direction of Dr. Bill Bullock, the 30 voice choir has come into prominence through the many and varied Christmas and Patriotic productions performed for the community. The choir has also sung the works of Joe Martin and performed multiple concerts under his direction.
Patrick Bullock Jr. "Bill", a native of Texas, earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in vocal performance at Corpus Christi State University in Corpus Christi, Texas. He earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He subsequently earned a Doctor of Educational Ministries Degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Kansas City, Missouri. Bill has directed adult and youth choirs, performed concerts and been a featured vocalist throughout Texas and the east coast. He has served over thirty years as a church choral director in Texas.

Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Chancel Choir (TX)
The Chancel Choir of the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church
functions much like most normal church choirs in week to week and
special holiday duties. What possibly sets the Chancel Choir apart from
many other choirs is the 50 member choir has been growing in the past 5
years from an average attendance of around 20 in one service to around
30 in two morning worship services.
In 2009 the choir was invited
to present a patriotic concert for the City of Fredericksburg in the
city park before the annual fireworks show when the San Antonio based
USAF Band of the West couldn't perform. The choir now continues to
present the annual July 4th show. The choir also hosted a South Texas
Choir Workshop last year with Joseph Martin as the host clinician.
Don Doss was raised in Oklahoma City and received a Bachelor
of Music Education Degree with combination choral and instrumental
certificates from Oklahoma Baptist University. He attended the
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary studying toward a Master of
Church Music with a music composition emphasis.
Don has taught in
Oklahoma and Texas public and private schools as well as serving as the
Music Director of Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and
non-denominational congregations in both states. He is a professional
Bass Trombonist having played with the Hill Country Symphony of Texas.
He also has arranged and/or composed choral and instrumental pieces that
have been used in churches across the country.

Jefferson City High School Jay Choir (MO)
The Jefferson City High School Jay Choir is a select ensemble,
consisting of grades 9-12. The ensemble performs divisi music, both a
cappella and accompanied with a diverse collection of Western and
non-Western languages and genres. Members of this ensemble maintain a
rigorous performance schedule while consistently receiving "I" ratings
at the MSHSAA Music Festivals and Gold Ratings at the Heritage Music
Festivals. Members of the Jay Choir also participate in Chorale,Concert
Choir, Freshman Choir, Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Chamber Choir,
J-City Riot, and the Operetta. The ensemble's members are not only
active and successful in the choral department, but participate in a
wide variety of academic, scholastic and extracurricular endeavors.
With their diversity, the Jay Choir truly represents what it means to be
a Jefferson City Jay.
Beth Dampf is in her fifth year at Jefferson City High School,
where she directs Chorale and co-directs Concert Choir and J-City Riot.
She is also the Music Department Chairperson directs the music for the
Operetta. She is the immediate Past-President of the Missouri Choral
Directors Association and directs the Missouri State FFA Chorus. She has
served as the national music representative for the National Federation
of High School Activities Association Citizenship and Equity Committee.
Professional memberships include Missouri Choral Directors
Association, Missouri Music Educators Association, National Federation
of High School Activities Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Dampf
resides on a 600 acre farm with her husband, Doug and seven year old
twins, Grace and Peter.
Kiesha Daulton has directed the Simonsen Ninth Grade Freshman
Choir since the 2009-2010 school year and team-taught the Jefferson City
High School Concert Choir since the 2010-2011 school year. She also
co-directs the J-City Riot Show Choir and under her direction the show
choir has received awards at competitions statewide as well as Heritage
Music Festivals in Washington D.C. and Orlando, Florida. She is an
active member of the Missouri Choral Directors Association as well as
the Missouri Music Educators Association.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church Adult Choir (OK)
St. Paul's Lutheran Church Adult Choir is the anchor of a varied
music ministry that involves singing and handbell choirs, a contemporary
band and a large cadre of soloists: both singers and instrumentalists.
The choir sings for worship services during the months of September
through June.
They have also presented many special programs and
services such as Easter Cantatas or participated in the Music
Ministry's concerts both at home and in cooperation with other local
churches, including the annual LCMO Music Festival. The choir toured
Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic and sang for worship at the
Castle Church in Wittenberg Germany.
Nancy Krause has been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church
since 1981 and has served as the Director of Music Ministry since 1993.
In addition to conducting the Adult Choir, she conducts 2 handbell
choirs, and has led the church's Teen Choir for 25 years.
She is
also the Chairman of the Board of LMCO - Lutheran Musicians of Central
Oklahoma. She is a past president and past board member of CORD-Central
Oklahoma Ringers and Directors.
Krause has a BS degree in Music
Education from the University of Missouri and an MS in Music Ed from
the University of Central Oklahoma.

B. Dempsey

The Sanctuary Singers (TX)
The Sanctuary Singers of First Baptist Church of Tyler serve as the main service choir for the church, singing every Sunday during the year. The choir, under the direction of Billy Bob Dempsey, also does special events during the year, and their repertoire ranges from contemporary to classical, including works such as Rutter's "Gloria". The group is presently preparing Dan Goeller's "Sing Praise to the Lord" and is pleased to be a part of this concert with our choral friend, Joseph Martin.
Reverend Billy Bob Dempsey received his B.S.E. degree from the University of Arkansas and his Masters of Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Dempsey has served churches in several states and is in his tenth year at First Baptist Church, Tyler, Texas. In addition to spending time with his family, Rev. Dempsey loves working with the Sanctuary Singers and the First Student Choir at church, playing trombone in several ensembles in the Tyler area, and writing for the East Texas Christian Jazz Band.

Sounds of the Southwest Singers (AZ)
The Sounds of the Southwest Singers, a 65 voice adult volunteer choir from Glendale, Arizona, sing a wide variety of music -- sacred, secular, patriotic, Broadway, popular and seasonal tunes throughout the Phoenix metro area all year round. Members of this choir sang at Carnegie Hall in 2009, toured Europe in 2010, and in 2011, they sang on the main stage in Anaheim, CA at Disneyland. They are scheduled to tour Hawaii in April 2013.
Matt Deller is the director of the Sounds of the Southwest Singers, a 65 voice adult volunteer choir from Glendale, Arizona. Matt's true passion is directing choral music and he has directed choirs since 1994. In February of 2012, Matt will make his orchestral debut by guest- conducting the prestigious Arizona MusicfestFestival Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Robert Moody. He has played the timpani, percussion and melodic percussion instruments in multiple orchestral and band settings, as well as the piano/keyboard with various jazz ensembles. He is a graduate of Central Washington University, and has lived in Arizona since 1999.

The Vanguard University Concert Choir (CA)
The University Concert Choir, the largest ensemble at Vanguard University with over 80 student members has presented classical, sacred, secular, and contemporary concerts in major concert halls, schools, churches, conferences and conventions throughout the United States. Past concert tours outside of the U.S. have included China, Mexico, Europe, the South Pacific, South Korea, Japan, and Canada. In 2002, 2005, 2008 & 2010 the students were invited to tour the People's Republic of China, where they performed in major concert halls, arenas, universities, and schools. Vanguard University music ensembles have long been noted for their inspiring and excellent presentation of sacred vocal and instrumental music, including classical, sacred, and secular hits from theatre and film.
The Vanguard University Concert Choir is directed by James L. Melton.
