Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Chamber Singers (GA)
The ABAC Chamber Singers is a group of 25-35 singers, selected by
audition, who perform acapella choral literature from the Renaissance
period to more contemporary selections. Members are selected from within
the concert choir and frequently perform for campus activities as well
as other community functions. They performed with the ABAC Jazz choir in
the spring of 2008 at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, St.
Paul's the Divine, and the World Trade Center Site in New York City.
They are honored to have been invited by Dr. Paul Neal to perform
Faure's Requiem with his choirs from Valdosta State University on
Memorial Day in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, NYC.
Dr. Susan Kirby Roe, soprano, earned the Bachelor of Music
Education degree from Converse College, the Master of Church Music in
vocal pedagogy from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the
Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance from the University of
South Carolina. Dr. Roe served on the faculty of Francis Marion
University for ten years as a tenured Assistant Professor of Music
before moving to Tifton in 1996 where she taught at Valdosta State
University before joining the ABAC faculty in a full time position in
the fall of 2002. She is currently Associate Professor of Voice at ABAC,
Director of the First Tuesday Performance Series and the Director of

emphasis is placed on repertoire that can be used in music education and
teaching applications.
Chorale offers a fun atmosphere combined with high musicality, a wide
variety of choral music, and collegiate level performance.
Typically, half of Chorale members are music majors and the other

Lincoln Lutheran Choir (NE)
The Lincoln Lutheran Choir, founded in 1978, exists to provide its
members and its audiences, first-hand exposure to the joy of singing and
hearing the great choral literature of the church. The choir seeks to
achieve three significant goals:
- to preserve in performance the music of the church's liturgical heritage of all ages, including the present
- to focus on the Lutheran choral heritage and the other similar
repertoires (which have contributed to it), extending them by means of
contemporary composition
- and to encourage a lively appreciation of the vast and varied
treasury of hymns of the church, particularly those arising within or
compatible with Lutheran practice
Joshua Norris, a native of Kingman, Arizona, is a doctoral
candidate in Choral Conducting at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln,
where he will receive the D.M.A. degree in choral conducting in May of
2011. Norris received his undergraduate degree in Music Education and
Choral Conducting from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa under the
guidance of Weston Noble, and a Master of Music degree in Choral
Conducting from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas under Dr.
Joey Martin. In addition to his duties with the Lincoln Lutheran Choir,
he serves on the music faculty of Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and
formerly, Nebraska Wesleyan University and the staff of First-Plymouth
Congregational United Church of Christ and the Abendmusik- Lincoln
Concert Series.

Paul Andrew Neal
Valdosta State University
I wanted to write a note of thanks to you both for a wonderful weekend of music making over Memorial Day Weekend. I am grateful to you and your staff for making our weekend in NYC a memorable one.
The entire weekend was handled very professionally. Our singers were treated well throughout the rehearsal and performance process. From the rehearsals to the reception, our experience was a good one.
I especially wanted to thank you for the conducting session with Kent Tritle. My session with him was very helpful and he gave me lots of tips and techniques to help, especially with the orchestra. Conducting at Lincoln Center is an overwhelming experience, and the mentoring session really helped me prepare for the task. The mentor conductor program that DCINY has created is a wonderful tool for a young conductor to prepare for this exciting opportunity. Thank you for doing it.
DCINY has set the standard for quality performances in NYC and beyond. I am grateful to be a part of it.

Susan Kirby Roe
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Chamber Singers
It was indeed a wonderful experience for me as well as my choir to work with you, your staff, and of course Paul Neal. Everything was so organized and your staff was available at all sessions for any questions we had. DCINY hosts a great event and I would love to bring my choirs back again in the future. Thank you for creating a performance that furthered their education during their college experience. I have 28 college students, Dr. Brian Ray, Associate Professor of English and Director of Honors Program, as well as myself, whose lives have been enriched forever through the rehearsals with Dr. Neal, performance, and the elegant reception that followed on May 30, 2011.
Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity. Please convey to Nicole Cotton, Johanna Kodlick, and Sara Sarakanti my appreciation. You all were wonderful to work with from the beginning of Dr. Neal's invitation last spring.
