William Skoog
Choral ensembles under his direction have distinguished themselves at ACDA, MENC and IMC (Intercollegiate Men's Chorus) conferences, and have performed at special events honoring William F. Buckley Jr., and Generals Colin Powell and Norman Schwartzkopf. His choirs have toured extensively, performing throughout the United States, and in many European nations, including England, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and France. Skoog has conducted various choirs with the Santa Maria Orchestra (Switzerland), Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony (OH), the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra (IN), Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Rome Festival Orchestra and Elkhart Symphony Orchestra (IN). He served as Artistic Director/Conductor of the distinguished Rome International Choral Festival in 2010, and the Lucerne International Choral Festival, Switzerland, in 2008. He has conducted European premieres of works by Dave Brubeck, and has prepared choruses for Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Edvard Tchivzhel, Stephan Sanderling and Giordano Bellincampi. His publishing credits include the Music Educators National Journal, The Choral Journal and the Cambridge Scholars Press (UK). He has presented at respected scholarly conferences including the International Conference on the Literature of War, Durrell School in Corfu, Greece, and at MENC and ACDA Conferences. Skoog is a champion of new music, and choral ensembles under his direction have performed and/or premiered numerous pieces by Dave Brubeck, Chen Yi, Michael Cox, John Harbison and Samuel Adler, among others. Skoog directs choral festivals at the regional, state, national and international level, including the states of Wyoming, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, New York (NY) and Iowa. He has been selected as Artistic Director/Conductor at the Kennedy Center, in Washington D.C., for a Presidents' Day concert in 2011.
